Livestock auction

The end-of-fair sale where youth exhibitors sell the market animals they raised.

The sale held near the end of a fair where youth exhibitors sell the market animals they have raised over the year, frequently to local businesses bidding above commodity rate to support the program. For many 4-H and FFA members it is the financial close of a full year of project work. Sale order, species and timing vary by fair, and it is usually one of the last events on the schedule rather than one of the first.

Also known as: market animal sale, sale of champions.
